[Let Christ Rule In Your Heart.
“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3:14-15 KJV
Colossians 3:14-15 NLT declares, “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Above all, clothe yourself with love. Let the Love of Christ rule and dwell richly in your heart and mind. Let His Power regulate your thoughts and actions. Choose to surrender to the Love of Christ.
Let your heart reflect His Character. Let His Love fuel and nourish the ground of your heart. Let your heart’s soil be covered by His Love. Choose to forgive quickly. Choose to let the stain and trespass of the past go. God is greater than your trespass. God is greater than the offense. Let His Peace rule you.
Forgive quickly. Forgive often. Forgive and let the Peace of God rule richly in your heart. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 KJV
By Vance K. Jackson.]
Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others]. Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].
Colossians 3:14-15 AMP
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
John 14:27 AMP
My Notes:
Colossians said, "clothe", or "wrap yourselves". This suggests a choice along with an action. Choose to put on, and wear, 'unselfish love'.
John 14:27 said, "do not 'let' your heart be troubled, or afraid". To "let" or "allow" also suggests that we have a choice. We have the power and ability to make a decision.
Both "putting on" or "letting / not letting" are mental decisions. We know that when we make choices it sends neurotransmitters down specific neural pathways. The most used pathways are the more easily traveled roads, and become a sort of default for our minds.
If we pay more attention to daily incidents and occurrences that we face, maybe we can catch ourselves and start "choosing", or "letting" our neurotransmitters travel down the neural pathways of Love, and peace; the narrow road. Denying the wide road, of self protection, selfish gain and fear; which leads to destruction.
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path (neural pathway) that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path (neural pathway) that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 AMP
