The prophet boldly said of God, that He (God) "created evil". "I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things (Isaiah 45:7).
And yet, this should give us peace and consolation, not fear. Because we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28). He works all things after the counsel of His own will, evil as well as good. Evil serves His purposes as much as good (just read the stories of Job, Joseph, or Saint Paul). The Devil is God's agent. Jesus' death and suffering, as well as the death and suffering of our own lower egoic nature, comes at the hands of Satan, by the will of the Father. Joesph insightfully declared, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good" (Genesis 50:20). This is the paradox.
Stop perceiving life and events as either good or bad. This dualistic and fearful perspective is the "fallen" (inferior) perspective. Such perspectives derive from the "fallen" knowledge, the awareness of the polarities of "good and evil". What we believe, perceive, and have faith in becomes our reality.
Learn the secret of seeing through outer appearances. See with "eyes of faith". See the spirit reality of God's purposes in ALL things. Don't see things from the fallen, dualistic, and fearful perspective. Everything that comes to us is from God. When we see with the "single eye" of faith, ["...if therefore thine eye be single..."], (seeing God in all things, or seeing all things as being allowed by God), we are able to give thanks and rejoice in ALL things. When we view life through the "single eye" of faith, instead of the dual perspective of fear and separateness, "our whole body shall be full of light" (Matthew 6:22).
Begin seeing with God's eye. Think with God's logic. Judge with God's mercy and compassion. View things as they were viewed before “the fall”. Christ is within us to help us see, think, and perceive as He does. Renew your mind, thoughts, and perspectives in the way that you perceieve life, circumstances, and the world. "Don't conform to the fearful thinking and perspectives of the world. You can be tranformed if you will renew your mind" (Romans 12:2). By adopting such a perspective and philosophy towards life (trusting that the God of love is behind all things, and is working them all for the good of those who love Him), one will more easily be able live by the wise instruction and guidance given to us by numerous Sages, as found in sacred scripture...
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds" (James 1:2).
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction..." (Romans 12:12).
"In all of your experiences, rejoice. Even if temporarily you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come to help strengthen and prove the genuineness of your faith..." (1 Peter 1:6,7).
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4).
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in ALL circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17).
"Giving thanks always for ALL things…” (Ephesians 5:20-23).
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him..." (Romans 8:28).
