Chrysalis

I bought the wine, "Chrysalis". After researching the name, it meant a lot to me. It's something I've been through. Something that now i hope I can encourage and help others when facing their time to go through it as well.

The chrysalis is, "A transitional state". It's the state of transition and process a caterpillar goes through, or takes on, when turning into a butterfly.

To undergo this state, or process, a caterpillar is wrapped up inside a cocoon. Lonely, isolated, dark. A potentially scary, and fearful experience. A time and process of facing all the fears that may exist inside. Abandonment, loneliness, protection, security, the unknown.

Through the chrysalis we can evolve and be created into something that resembles the change, and difference, between a caterpillar and a butterfly.

There are so many facets of change that can, could and should occur. If... If we let ourselves transform. And let go of the old identity. Our old life, old perspectives, old fears, old securities, old vices.

During this process it's easy to feel weak, vulnerable. We may feel out of control and like we are, "a mess". It's ok to feel like a mess. In those times we should be allowed to be honest about it, and allowed to feel weak.

In those times, we can accept humility. Humility of accepting we aren't perfect, or always strong. And we can ask God for His strength, comfort, and wisdom. And he will give it. God always draws near to the Humble.

If we let the process of the chrysalis take place, we will come out of, what felt like, death, with a new life and strength. The root word for Chrysalis means,"gold". Even gold is a metaphor of a similar process as the chrysalis. The purifying process of gold, like the chrysalis, represents the same discomfort, trying times, and experiences that lead to a creation, a transformation, of something with much more value and beauty.

If we stay in the hot flames, the purifying process, as gold does. Or in the transforming, difficult, uncomfortable, dark, lonely, scary process of the chrysalis. If we let it teach us, reshape us. Then, at a minimum, we will come out of those dark times and lessons, not only alive. But we will be able to fly.
