Deliver The Seed(s)
Planting seeds and delivering God's message are synonymous. "Preaching God's Word" is analogous to planting seeds. The idea of seeds is used metaphorically throughout much of scripture.
When the New Testament apostles were faced with intense threats, which I'm certain incited fear and worry within their flesh (ego), they prayed ... give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word" (Acts of the Apostles 4:29 NLT).
Even in the face of threats, the Apostles knew that their God-given task was to deliver God's spiritual message. The message that we can all be, and have been, freely reconciled in our personal relationship to God. A message that is so profound, when truly understood, that it shatters the power and control that fear (especially the fear of death) has had on the hearts (emotions) and minds of mankind for centuries. A message that our fear and anxiety-driven society desperately needs today.
This message, that we no longer have anything to fear, this "word of God" must be delivered to all of mankind. And what better way to deliver such a profound, indepth, and powerful spiritual message than in the innocent and non-threatening form of a seed.
"The seed is God’s word" (Luke 8:11 NLT).
God's word must always come in the form of a seed. The "Word of God" is spiritual. And in order for anything spiritual to function, or be grasped in other realms, (i.e., mental, emotional, or physical), the spiritual message (energy, entity, or being) must take on a form that corresponds to the realm it intends to enter.
This is why a "spiritual word" must inhabit a physical, mental, or emotional form, known as "a seed". God's word comes in various forms; in the form of a thought, a spoken word, a scripture, song lyrics, a deep unexplainable emotion, etcetera, but it always comes within a form. And whatever form God's word may come in, the form is just the outside casing of the spiritual seed. We have some of those seeds inside of us. And we can plant them in the lives of others through our intentions and actions of love, patience, kindness, gentleness, etcetera. We can plant seeds through our words, thoughts, emotions, and our actions.
A seed might seem small and insignificant, but within each tiny seed resides unique potentiality. The memory of an act (seed) of kindness, 20 years later, can bring an individual to tears as the message of love within that act (seed) unfolds and is finally realized.
A word spoken to someone might be forgotten by the mind of the one it was spoken to, until one day the seed of that spoken word breaks open, causing that same word to echo through their subconscious and back into their conscious mind; this time bringing spiritual inspiration with it as the love, power, and transformation that was hidden inside the seed is unveiled.
I heard a story of how the smile of a stranger convinced another person to not commit suicide. A simple smile performed from a heart of love can be a seed of hope that desecrates the mental and emotional lies of hopelessness.
Any seed that contains the life essence of God (Love) is "God's Word". A seed could be in the form of a charitable gift, an act of compassion, a mental imagination (prayer), an emotion of care, and so on. God's word is not just something that is audibly spoken. God's word is the spiritual message of life that resides within certain words; the spiritual message of love that resides in certain actions; the spiritual message of hope that resides in certain prayers. God's word is the spiritual essence of faith, hope, and love that resides in seeds of various forms.
Knowing this, let us be bold in delivering the message of God. The message of love. The message that there is nothing to fear. The message that there is hope, and that we can live in peace. Not every individual, at every moment of their life, (if ever), needs to hear the entire doctrine of Christian theologies. But every person, at every moment, needs the Love of God. May we grasp the heart of Christ, being wise as serpents but harmless as doves, while we plant seeds, in their limitless variety of forms; seeds of God's powerful, unconditional, and limitless Love.
Prayer:
"GOD, in a world full of worry and fear, we ask that you help us to be bold and to plant your seed, your word, your message of faith, hope, and love, into the lives of others."
