Give thanks. First thing, everyday, give thanks. Why? Because He is good.
Don't let your mind and emotions start dwelling on worries or problems. Do not allow it. Give thanks. Demand your neurotransmitters to travel on the path of thankfulness, gratitude and positivity. Or as Phillipians 4:8 says, (paraphrased) "Whatever is good, positive, etc., think about these things; focus your mind on these."
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of Lords. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights— His faithful love endures forever. the sun to rule the day, His faithful love endures forever. and the moon and stars to rule the night. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who killed the firstborn of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever. He brought Israel out of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever. He acted with a strong hand and powerful arm. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who parted the Red Sea. His faithful love endures forever. He led Israel safely through, His faithful love endures forever. but he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who struck down mighty kings. His faithful love endures forever. He killed powerful kings— His faithful love endures forever. Sihon king of the Amorites, His faithful love endures forever. and Og king of Bashan. His faithful love endures forever. God gave the land of these kings as an inheritance— His faithful love endures forever. a special possession to his servant Israel. His faithful love endures forever. He remembered us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever. He saved us from our enemies. His faithful love endures forever. He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever. Psalms 136:1-26 NLT
Several of the verses above are a recalling of past scenarios that initially were scary, challenging and possibly traumatic. However, they are recalled from hindsight, seeing the perspective of how God got them through those past traumas and fears. God's faithfulness to get them through these scenarios are viewed as evidence of "His faithful love that endures forever".
I need to purposely recall the several scenarios that God has brought me through in life; the same way the passage in Psalms 136 does. The small, the large, the good and the difficult times.
I look at my past and I can see, "His mercy and loving kindness was always with me". As I remind myself of every scenario that He has brought me through it will build faith for every new scenario I will face. I have no need to have any fear, any anxiety or concern. His mercy and loving kindness lasts forever. He is forever with me, for me, and guiding me.
Give thanks. He is good. What traumas and difficulties have you seen Him help you through? What scenarios have you seen Him help others through? Think on these things, declare these things. His faithful love endures forever. No matter what you face today or tomorrow, He is good.
