"Tap to view if you need an umbrella"

“Tap to view if you need an umbrella.” This is what the notification read on my phone, from my weather app.

I began to think of how convenient and helpful that technology is. Especially since I currently reside in a location of unexpected weather changes.

Life, in every aspect, can definitely be unexpected. While we can attempt to be prepared for many things, we can't be prepared for all things. Not on our own that is. God’s Spirit and gifts within us and in others, can however, urge or warn us to be prepared. But, we must be paying attention.

God loves us all, very much. Yes, He deeply cares about us even though, in our lives, He doesn't remove all hardships, evil, or storms. But God can, and offers to, warn and prepare us. We can “tap on Him” to know what may be ahead in life.

Perhaps, maybe even more often, if we have asked Him to be in constant relationship with us, God will “tap on you.” Like a good father, or parental figure, God will gladly, on His own, lovingly, give you any notifications you may need. In many cases He may even be letting life prepare you, through blessings (which sometimes looks like difficulty) for something ahead that otherwise you wouldn't have had the strength or wisdom for.

Ask God to be in this kind of, "speaking relationship", with you. Give Him permission to “notify” you of things you should know, do, or be prepared for. And when your friend or spouse looks at you oddly, asking, “Why did you put an umbrella by the door?” You can boldly respond, My "God notification" said that there's expected rain tomorrow.”
