Trust.
Don’t fear.
Don’t bow. Stand.
Don’t bow to the fear of the fire.
I don’t have to bow to fear. Even if it looks like the worst will occur, I don’t have to fear.
The fear regarding finances says to bow. To make my own way, or I will be burned. The fear of loneliness says to bow. To make my own way and find my own comfort, or I will be burned. The voice behind various circumstantial fears tells me to submit, and do what the voice demands, or I will lose my life in the fire.
The 3 Isrealite men, (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego), had made a choice, “We won’t let fear make us bow.”
It appeared that there was no choice left. The 3 men had been told that they could either submit and bow to a certain way of life, or they would be thrown into the fiery furnace. They were told they only had two options, and that appeared to be true. Yet they didn’t give in to fear.
They didn’t let fear overcome them. Even when they reached what appeared to be “the very end”, they did not submit to fear. Their choice to not submit to fear created a third option. An option that was not previously given. “Be thrown into the fire, and live”.
I don’t have to fear my circumstance. I may only have two apparent options; Submit and bow to fear, or be thrown in the fire. But when I deny fear, and even get thrown into the fire, God’s third option will be revealed.
Maybe we can’t extinguish the fire. But we can extinguish the fear. We can enter the fire with faith instead of fear.
Don’t bow to the fear of the fire.
Don’t bow. Stand.
Don’t fear.
Trust.
