Roxanne

Roxanne

Recently, my attention was brought to the song, Roxanne, performed by a group called, The Police.

Roxanne means Dawn. It is the cusp of when light begins to overcome the darkness. At Dawn, the night is over. We are Roxanne. We are the souls who have made it through the night and into the light of dawn. However, it's here that we must experience a renewal of habits, ways of living, and perceptions. Roxanne is being called to see clearly what she (we) have not seen before.

Symbolically, during the night we fear, we worry, and we end up selling (trading) the precious, intimate, life-energy of our souls. We sold our peace. It is stolen from us through worry, anxiety, and fear. During the proverbial night, we fall for the false promise of security, safety, and provision. The lord of the night convinces us to invest our life, and even our bodies (our emotional bodies, mental bodies, etc.) in inferior forms of thinking, believing, and feeling; of work and play, all for the exchange of pseudo-peace.

However, the night is over. All that we have done, experienced, and all that we thought we knew, we can now lay aside. Peace is here, provision, blessing, and abundance. The Lord of Light has made a way for us to live life without us having to sell our emotional and mental energy to the slave-drivers and "pimps'' of anxiety, fear, and worry. We don't have to "walk the streets." A life of peace, contentment, and joy was purchased for us. In the unseen realms, it was all paid for by our Lord, our brother, our kinsman-redeemer, our savior, and the first-born Son of God.

God loves us. We have experienced the horrors of the "night." Dawn is here. We no longer have to live how we once did.

Not sure what this all means, or how to experience a new life of peace? Just ask God. Pray and ask. God answers all who ask, seek, and knock.

Below is a link to my imperfect version of the song, Roxanne, with an additional verse that I added.

The lyrics of my personalized edit to the verse:

"Don't have to walk the streets for money, He gave it all, He made it right".
