See, Feel, Speak
Attempting to "break free" from moments of anxiety, worry, etcetera, can prove to be a difficult task. Even our attempts to stop, pray, and "cast our cares on God" can sometimes feel futile (1 Peter 5:7). The eye of our mind wanders back to stare at the object(s) of concern, often before we have even finished reciting our prayer for help.
In situations such as these, it may be helpful to remember the triad of "see, feel, speak".
• "See", refers to the mental imagery of our mind. Sometimes we may want to pray words of thankfulness or gratitude but our mind's eye keeps staring at sorrow or worry. In such a case, find new imagery for your mind's eye. Perhaps view the Lord as your Shepherd (Psalm 23), or some other creative imagery. Either way, take control over the eye of your mind and find something that shines the light and love of God to look upon.
• "Feel". Typically feelings are connected to whatever we have been believing and/or viewing, looking at, or meditating upon. Meditating on problems, or ruminating, affects our feelings. When we choose to "see", and set our minds eye upon something that is good, pure, worthy, wholesome, etcetera, we should also take the time to "feel" the goodness of whatever we have chosen to look upon. Aligning our emotions with our mental sight is powerful. E-motion is energy in motion. Attempt to align with the energies (emotions) that come from faith, hope, or love.
• And finally, "speak". Once we have tamed our minds eye to look upon something that is true, beautiful, hopeful, and heavenly, we should purposely speak words that align with the true, hopeful, and loving things that we are "seeing" and "feeling". Speak words of life, hope, trust, faith, and love.
This is how we align our entire being. This is how prayers become powerful. This is the power of a triple braided cord that is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Don't let fear, worry, or anything that is not from heaven, control these parts of you. You are not a slave. Rule your own kingdom. Rule your own soul. See, Feel, and Speak the Kingdom of Heaven into this earth. We are the vessels. We choose what we allow to fill us. Our thoughts (imagery), emotions, and words have the power of life or death, blessing or cursing, creation or destruction.
