Thoughts On Prayer

Thoughts On Prayer

What if our thoughts, emotions, and actions were "our prayers"?

What if, from a spiritual perspective, our thoughts (mental agreements), emotions, and actions were viewed as the "prayers", "requests", and "incense" of our lives?

Isn't it our thoughts, emotions, and actions that are all performing together during our designated "prayer time"?

If this is true, then what would the difference be between our designated prayer time and the rest of our day? If our thoughts, emotions, and actions are being offered before the Lord during designated prayer time, then aren't they also being lifted up (somewhere in the spiritual realm) during every other moment of our life?

Perhaps our thoughts, emotions, and actions are constantly emitting themselves, being lifted up into the spiritual realm like incense (Revelation 5:8), and those that agree and align with heaven, attract heaven. Or perhaps heaven attracts them.

Perhaps our thoughts, emotions, and actions are attracting whatever spiritual presence, energy, or beings they align with. Maybe this is why, in almost every book of the New Testament, we are encouraged to be thankful, to be grateful or content, to rejoice - even during difficulties. Maybe by doing these things, we are keeping our thoughts and emotions aligned with higher heavenly perspectives. Thereby allowing heavenly beings (Holy Spirit, angels, etc.) to remain near us. And when we can remain in such mental and emotional states, perhaps this would be viewed as "the prayers of the saints constantly going before the Lord".

If any of this were to be true, it would simply give us more motivation and reason to do the things we are already instructed to do: Love one another. Do everything out of love. Forgive. Be grateful. Rejoice. Encourage others. And, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone" (Romans 12:18).

If any of this were true, it would only give more clear insight into the instruction given to us by the Spirit of Wisdom, as She tells us to "Guard your heart (thoughts and emotions) above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil" (Proverbs 4:23‭-‬27). And, finally, if any of these ideas regarding prayer might be true, then maybe this is what Paul was also trying to express when he writes, "Make your life a prayer. And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:17‭-‬18 TPT).

This is very empowering for sincere seekers. As more and more freedom (healing) occurs in our hearts, thoughts, attitudes we have a more far reaching influence in prayer!
